Copper (I) oxide (Cu
2
O) is an important p-type semiconductor with a band gap of 2.17 eV
and has been paid much attention to due to its remarkable properties and wide potential
applications in fields such as gas sensing, catalysis, solar energy conversion, biosensing, and
electrode materials.
In this work, we reported on solution based synthesis of Cu
2
O nanocubes. The Cu
2
O
nanocubes were synthesized with controllable sizes from 30 to 200 nm. The Cu2O nanocubes
exhibit high crystallinity from X-ray diffraction and the particles are cubes from Field
Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy and Transmission Electron Microscopy. The gas
sensing activities of the Cu2O nanocubes with four different sizes were systematically
explored.
